
Wokha, June 25 (MExN): ATMA Wokha organized mobilization and capacity building of farmer’s group-cum-linkages with financial institutions for micro-credit in association with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB), Wokha on June 23 at Fishery Training Hall, Wokha.
Masheto, BM, NSCB, speaking on micro-credit linkages, said that NSCB is a rural bank for the rural people and urged the SHGs/CIGs to go to the bank instead of money lenders as the latter’s interest rates are very high. He further said that having bank account is not only for safe keeping of money, but for earning interest and availing facilities from the bank through the account.
While applauding ATMA Wokha for organizing such meet of bankers and farmers in the district, he promised that a bigger financial literacy camp in collaboration with ATMA will be held in days to come. He also urged the farmers to open joint liability group and farmers club for availing micro credit loan.
In the technical session, Khopen, Accountant NSCB spoke on proper book account for better growth of a group and Mhonroni, ATM spoke on group-led-extension.
In the interaction session, farmer groups from Tseminyu block interacted with farmers of Wokha and shared their group activities.
A press note said that highlight of the programme was given by Dr. Mhonchan, Project Director, ATMA and short speech was also delivered by G. Kent, A.O Tseminyu. Mhomo, Fishery Inspector chaired the programme, Sanchibeni welcomed the participants, while Loreni, ATM proposed vote of thanks.
In another programme, capacity building and appraisal for SHG/CIG, farm school was organised for Wokha, Chukitong and Wozhuro blocks on June 22 at Fishery Training Hall, Wokha. Dr. Mhonchan, PD, while highlighting about the programme, said that it is time farmers/groups come out with their success stories. In the technical session, Dr. BL Mhalo, SMS spoke on income generating activities for SHG/CIG and Mhomo, Fishery Inspector spoke on management of groups and book keeping.
In the interaction session, SHGs/CIGs supported by ATMA were asked to give an appraisal reports. It was highlighted that CIG on spices Tsungiki village was exporting their value added products even to Shillong. The programme was chaired by Nzanbeni Jami, ATM and vote of thanks was proposed by Loreni, ATM.
