
Atoizu, June 30 (MExN): Elected Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) councillors and nominees of the Atoizu Town Council have formally announced their disassociation from the NCP and merged en bloc with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
According to a press release issued by the group, this decision follows a resolution passed by the NCP 32 A/C Atoizu Unit on May 30, which endorsed a collective merger with the NDPP.
“As per the resolution passed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) 32 A/C Atoizu Unit on May 30, 2025, for an en bloc merger with NDPP, the elected NCP Councilors and Nominee of Atoizu Town Council hereby announce our disassociation from all affiliations with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and our merger with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP),” the statement read.
The signatories of the merger include Kitoli Naje, Er. Khehoto Chophy, L Hekhevi Sema, Ghuheto Aye, and nominees Vito Awomi and Inali.
The group stated that the move is a “strategic” one aimed at reinforcing the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA)-led government in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and NDPP President Chingwang Konyak.
“This strategic move aims to support and strengthen the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA)-led government in Nagaland under the leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister, and Chingwang Konyak, President of NDPP,” they stated.
Further, the councillors and nominees expressed their intent to work in collaboration with the NDPP toward the development of the state.
“The undersigned NCP Councilors and nominee of Atoizu Town Council are committed to working collaboratively with NDPP to contribute to the progress and development of Nagaland,” the statement concluded.
