Audition for Nagaland Art fusion Contest

Screening for the 7th edition of the ‘Best of the Best Nagaland Art Fusion Contest’, 2011was held Saturday, April 23 at the Dimapur Club. Sixteen bands from Peren, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima and Phek auditioned for the event today.
Eleven bands - Hybrid Theory, Switchblade, Razzle, Vecit In Chains, Tra2Torman, Meadow Saffron, Trappist, Darkness Side Revealed, D’Notes, Deafen and Off Beatz – made it through the auditions. Four more bands – Black Soul Anthem, Havoc, Avancer and Black Creepers availed automatic entrance to the competition courtesy their finals finish in the last edition.  
The judge today was L. Asangla Pongen, a professional music teacher and currently a member of the Nagaland Chamber Choir. Pongen holds a Bachelors degree in vocal performance in western classical (Opera) from the Institute of Centre for Music Education, Bangalore.  The grand finale for the event is slated for June 20. The bands selected today will battle for slots in the final, during the semi-finals in May. The winner will get a place to compete at the North East Art Fusion Contest.  
According to the Mind Blowers Club, the organizers of the competition, Dimapur will for the first time host the North East Art Fusion Contest under the banner – ‘Summer Festival’ on June 21 coinciding with World Music day. In this event, selected bands from all the eight states of the north east will perform.
