Zhimomi said the project is part of the Smart City plan which aims to provide safe drinking water to the citizens of Kohima Town. He maintained that the government is concerned about the health of the people and the project will not only provide safe drinking water to the people but would solve the water scarcity problem in the city.

He also informed that in Wokha, a similar project would be commissioned within 45 days. A project of the same kind is also on the verge of completion at Chiephobozou RD block under Kohima district which will cover 21 water-scarce villages. Similar projects will be implemented in other districts, the Minister added.

Zarü project, Zhimomi explained, covers the urban area of Kohima Town and falls under the Smart City scheme, funded by the Ministry of Urban Development. Under the PDA Government, with a promise to bring a change within 100 days, it aims to finish the project within 45 days, he claimed.

The project is a two staged pumping system, whereby the water will reach the pressure break tank and through gravity, the water will flow down to the main reservoir located at Kohima Town. The Minister was accompanied by the officials and staff of PHED for the site inspection.
