Richa Productions’ annual event August Rush will be celebrating its third edition with new and exciting initiatives for young people on August 14 and 15 at The Heritage, Kohima.
Organised independently since its inception in 2016, the annual event draws a large millennial crowd in the field of music and performing arts. The third edition of this year’s August Rush will witness a variety of events such as workshops of food, baking, bamboo crafts, skill development, fashion shows featuring upcoming designers, models, and disco soup.
Addressing a press conference on August 11 at The Heritage, Managing Director, Dr. Teputo Richa stated that Nagas are not confined to the talent of music alone but have immense potentials in the field of fine arts, performing arts, literature, cooking and patisserie. “However, there are rarely any platforms to display and exhibit their arts and works. Therefore, August Rush hopes to provide that platform for skilled and talented Nagas to display and exhibit their works,” said Richa.
Event Manager Medo Kense mentioned that August Rush is mainly organised for upcoming artists, entrepreneurs, musicians focusing on the field of arts and creativity.
Disco Soup
Disco Soup is an international grassroots movement to raise awareness on food waste and preservation which is marked by a mass cook-up with leftover and unsold vegetables, alongside live music. The Disco Soup to be held in this year's August Rush is a new initiative which according to the organisers will be the first Disco soup to be held in India. Dr. Teputo Richa informed that leftover and unsold vegetables bought from street vendors will be used in the Disco Soup led by Chef Joel Basumatri.
Asato Paphino, Coordinator of the Slow Food Youth Network Nagaland stated that the Disco Soup is a global event that brings all the local food activists to spread the message of food sustainability.
Fashion Fest
The Fashion Fest will introduce the designs of three new designers while 12 fresh models will be walking the ramp choreographed by Theja Sekhose.
Best of August Rush Contest
The four final contestants will be battling for the 'Best of August Rush Contest' on August 15. The final contestants were selected from two audition rounds. The first audition was judged on the participants performance of Medo Kense's award winning song 'But I' in Facebook based on the highest number of likes. In the second audition the selected participants performed live and selected by three judges.
Exhibition on Photography, literature,
handicrafts, fine arts and food
August Rush 2018 will also welcome stalls and exhibitions on photography, handicrafts, literature, fine arts and food. The organisers have informed interested candidates to contact the number.
Workshops on music production, bamboo products, baking & cooking, skill development and employment
A major attraction for this year’s August Rush are the workshops on music production with Rainbow Bridge from Bangalore as the facilitators, bamboo products to be trained by Zynorique, baking and cooking skills with Joel Basumatari as the resource person. YouthNet Nagaland will be facilitating the workshop on employment and skill development.
August Rush is organised in collaboration with The Heritage, Decibel, Pusa Printing Press, Innovations, the Saccharide, Automation Services, Naga Street Style, Theja Sekhoses, Jubal Store, Campsite Yedikha, QSC Audio Products Corporation, Kadence, and Tshetsholo Naro Photography & Videography. Besides its annual event August Rush, Richa Productions works in music production, video production, event management, artist management, and sound systems.
