KOHIMA: In pursuance to the powers conferred under Clause (1) Sub-Clause (iii) and Clause (2) of the Central Vehicle Rules 1989, and in partial modification of all earlier Notification, the Governor of Nagaland has authorized the use of Sirens, Red Lights and Designation Plates on the Official Vehicles of the following VVIPs/VIPs, High Dignitaries and vehicles escorting them and other Emergency Service Vehicles:
I. Use of Sirens:
a) Governor of Nagaland.
b) Chief Minister, Nagaland.
c) VVIPs and Union Ministers during their visit to the State.
d) Governor and Chief Ministers of other States when they visit the State
e) Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
II. Use of Red Light, Designation Plates & Flag Posts
1. Governor of Nagaland
2. Chief Minister of Nagaland
3. Holders of Bharat Ratna decoration
4. Deputy Chief Minister, Nagaland
5. Chief Justice of High Court of Assam and Nagaland
6. Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly
7. Cabinet Ministers of Nagaland
8. Vice-Chairman, State Planning Board
9. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly
10. Puisne Judges of the High Court
11. Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly
12. Parliamentary Secretaries of Government of Nagaland
13. Member of Parliament
14. Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly
15. Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland

Provided that the red light shall be kept covered with black hood when the authorized dignitaries are not carried in the vehicle.
III. Use of Multi-coloured Orange, Blue and White Light combination
1. Police Pilot Vehicle as per entitlement of all VVIP’s
2. Recovery/Break Down Crane on road accident duty
3. Police vehicle on road/traffic interception duty
4. Ambulances on emergency duty
5. Fire Tenders.
