Migrants, mostly auto drivers, who embarked on an arduous journey home driving autorickshaws from Dimapur to Bihar last week, have safely reached their respective locations today, according to reports received here.

Two batches of auto drivers, some with families, numbering around 100 left for Bihar from Dimapur on May 16 and 17 after medical clearance at Dillai Gate, Dimapur before starting their journey.

According to an official of the Dimapur District Auto Drivers' Union, (DDADU), both batches reached Bihar together ‘safe and sound' at around 5:00 am, on Wednesday. The official meanwhile informed that the Dimapur District Administration has disallowed DDADU members from traveling home by autorickshaws in the future.

Instead, special trains are scheduled for those stranded in Nagaland on May 22 and 23. Auto drivers wanting to go to their homestate have been asked to register with the District Administration, the official added.
