Peren, September 27 (MExN): As part of its fund raising campaign, the Zeliang Students’ Union, Nagaland organised one-day penalty shootout tournament at Astro-Turf ground, Jalukie town with Neiba Newmai, IPS (Retd) as special guest. 

A total of 64 teams participated in the tournament and Auto Union, Jalukie town emerged as the Champion and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and Ilungheing Chame, Lamhai-Dungki village was awarded Rs 10,000 in the second place. Machi Kulim of Hornet FC, Heningkunglwa village was adjudged the best keeper.

Speaking on the occasion, Newmai said, “Zeliang Students’ Union, Nagaland is the right body to represent the student’s community of Peren district as the nomenclature itself is tribal in nature and in spirit.” According to a press release, he viewed that the union is heading in the right direction and said, “ZLSU is well organized and enthusiasm for the welfare of the students’ in particular and the community in general even in the days to come.”

The event was compered by Namgwangheile Nsarangbe, Women Co-ordinator while the introductory speech was delivered by Kingsalt Hegwang, President and Rev Dr Mongzeung Mpom, Pastor Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church invoked God’s Blessings.
