A Red Ribbon Superstar Campaign was held on the 26th of September at Dimapur Town Hall. Dr. N.L Changkija, Project Director NSACS, gave the keynote address. I. Imkong, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that when HIV first came to light in Nagaland, Dimapur was not the District with the highest prevalence rate. However, today, it is the District with the highest prevalence rate in the State. He also highlighted on how the political will to fight against the pandemic made the Government to form the Legislators Forum on AIDS.
Hushili Sema, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur was also present at the audition as Special Guest. She stressed on the importance of living positively and how the issue of HIV and AIDS should not only be addressed during such campaigns but also on all available platforms. She requested the participating bands to live responsibly and "rock positively."
Khekiho of Redeemer Alliance Network was the motivational speaker. He challenged the audience on abstaining from drugs. Lunkhailun of DNP+ was the positive speaker. He said 'it is stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS, which kills us every second.'
Red Ribbon Club members of Patkai Christian College pinned red ribbons on every person who came to witness the show, explaining the significance of the red ribbon, and also distributed IEC materials. Q21 bands auditioned to find a spot at the Grand Finale. 'Avancer' was declared the Red Ribbon Superstar band from Dimapur.
In the morning, the RockAware road crew team along with NSACS officials visited Patkai Christian College and interacted with the students. Renbeni Odyuo, brand ambassador; RockAware presented a song and shared on living a safe and responsible life. Nukshinaro, GIPA Coordinator, NSACS, shared her testimony and encouraged the students to think wisely before making choices in life, so that they do not end up scaring their lives.
