Awareness programme on ill-effects of tobacco consumption held

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): The NSS Unit of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) organised an awareness programme on the ill -effects of Tobacco Consumption on May 12 at Government High School, Jakhama.

This programme was organized to protect public health and spread awareness on tobacco consumption.
NTCP Kohima district Nodal Officer, Dr I Simon Sumi, who was the resource person, highlighted how tobacco consumption negatively impacts an individual's health and behavior.

He urged the participants to discourage family members, friends or people they know from consuming tobacco products including smoking. Sumi encouraged the participants to avoid tobacco substances for a healthier lifestyle.

Kelengol Neikha, PO, NSS, SJC(A) also spoke about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption and called upon the students to say 'No' to tobacco and say 'Yes' to life.

Earlier, Tokani L, PO, NSS, SJC (A) invoked God’s blessing while welcome speech was delivered by Kevi; and Vikato Swu, PO, NSS, SJC (A) proposed vote of thanks.
