Awareness campaign for conservation of forest & wildlife held

Zunheboto, November 18 (MExN): An awareness campaign for protection and conservation of nature, forest and wildlife was jointly organised by Nagaland Forest Department and Olympic Higher Secondary School on November 17 at Olympic Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto.  

The campaign was attended by officials from district administration, police, forest department, principal, teachers and around 300 students from the school, a press release from Chief Wildlife Warden Satya Prakash Tripathi stated.  

The programme was supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi.  

Shanawaz, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto spoke on the issue of Sustainable Development and encouraged the students to educate others on conservation of nature, forest and wildlife.  

Uniel Kichu, Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto spoke on the issue of degradation of natural resources and lamented that the rich natural resources we inherited from our forefathers are diminishing.  

He further encouraged the students to play an active role in protecting and conserving our environment.  

Satya Prakash Tripathi, Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland, in his key note address highlighted the importance of forest and wildlife in our lives and their role in addressing the issue of climate change, global warming, ecological and food security. He further exhorted the students to be Brand Ambassadors for forest and wildlife conservation. A film on ‘’Nagaland is Changing, but...” was also shown to the students.
