Awareness campaign for girl students held

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): An awareness campaign on menstrual cycle was held at St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Dimapur commemorating the Swachh Shakti week (March 1-8, 2017). Hundreds of girl students were sensitized on the topic.  

Imojungla Longkumer, Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant delivered a talk on the subject. A movie on the topic was also shown to the girl students. Sr. Ranit, Principal of St. Paul Higher Secondary School while welcoming the organizers, also underscored the need for women, as the main agents of change, as they have the power to change their families, society and community they live in. The programme was chaired by Vibou Seyie, IEC consultant.  

An inter school painting competition for girl students in connection with the Swachh Shaktee Week was conducted on the theme, “Vision/Dream of a Clean Village” at Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur Covenant Hall.  

The first prize was bagged by Renuka Debnath of St. Paul Hr. Secondary. Nikita Singh of MGM Hr. Secondary School was placed second, while third spot was clinched by Khushi Debnath of St.Mary Montessori Hr. Secondary School. Anushka Bhattacharjee of St. Paul Hr. Secondary School and Swagata Bhunia of Christian Higher Secondary were awarded consolation prizes. All the winners were given cash awards and certificates.  

A press release from the department informed that both programmes were organized by PHED (Rural)division, Dimapur and sponsored by WSSO, Nagaland, Kohima.
