
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Green Campus Committee, Dimapur Government College in partnership with the District Administration of Dimapur, launched a significant awareness campaign on the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at the Dimapur Government College (DGC) today.
Held at the college’s seminar hall, the event aimed to educate and engage participants in the crucial cause of improving air quality and fostering sustainable environmental practices, a press release issued by the Green Campus Committee stated.
Delivering the key note address, Deputy Commissioner Dr Tinojongshi Chang emphasized on the critical role of the NCAP in combating air pollution. He underscored the government's dedication to tackling this issue and urged the younger generation to actively contribute to sustainable development in their communities.
Earlier, the program began with a warm welcome from Kezhaleu Hesso, Vice Principal of DGC, who extended her appreciation to the attendees for their participation in the important campaign.
Nyamnyei Konyak, a 3rd-semester BA student and member of the Green Campus Committee. Konyak delivered a presentation detailing the committee’s ongoing efforts to enhance the college’s green footprint, including waste management, plantation drives, and environmental awareness campaigns.
The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks from Imlijungla Lemtur, EAC, Dimapur, and chairperson of the event. She expressed gratitude to all participants and collaborators for their support.
Following the formalities, attendees participated in a photo session and a symbolic plantation drive, planting three Ficus trees on the old campus to represent a commitment to a greener environment.
