An awareness drive and surprise checking was conducted by the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) team in Zunheboto, in collaboration with various local organizations including Sumi Youth Organisation (SYO), Zunheboto Range Students Union (ZRSU), District No Tobacco Club. They were accompanied by police personnel along with EAC as the district magistrate. The initiative aimed to address the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions in Zunheboto town.

The primary objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) and to reinforce the legal prohibition on selling tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions. This law, designed to protect children and young adults from the harmful effects of tobacco, was emphasized during the awareness drive. The team visited various shops and vendors near schools and engaged with shop owners to ensure compliance with the law.
