Dimapur, March 29 (MExN): Awareness programme on national rural drinking water and sanitation and cleanliness was held at Luhevi village organized by the village WATSAN Committee on March 23.
Dr. LK Achumi, retired District and Session Judge, who is also the Head GB of Luhevi village, stated that one of the basic needs for leading a healthy life is clean drinking water and proper sanitation.
“Drinking clean and pure water ensures a better and healthier life,” he stated, while stressing on the need for maintaining proper water storage, reservoirs, and pipelines. Achumi also asked to ensure that the village is kept clean and sanitary always, stated a press release from WATSAN Committee chairman, Nitozu Zhimo.
The Head GB further emphasized that proper toilets are also a necessity for healthy life and urged to keep them clean and hygienic. He also elucidated on maintaining good sanitation saying it is vital for preventing various sicknesses and diseases which arise due to unhealthy environment.
He appealed to the public to keep the village neat and clean always as the village was declared Clean Village and No Tobacco Zone on October 24, 2014.
