Awareness on Jal Jeevan Mission in Shamator

Shamator, December 16 (MExN): As a part of the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission awareness, Implementing Support Agency (ISA), PHED Tuensang Division, Alongphi Welfare Society, conducted a block-level workshop for Village Functionaries and FTK Users on December 15 at Shamator Block with the theme ‘Source water conservation and its sustainability in rural areas.’

During the workshop, Er Lanu of PHED Tuensang talked on the topic of community participation in JJM and said that source sustainability and responsibility lies with the community.

Changkiuba, ISA, field executive spoke on the main theme of the workshop- how villagers need to start conservation of sources through the preservation of forests from deforestation and Jhum cultivation practices in the source areas. The ISA team also highlighted on operation and maintenance exercises for safe drinking water quality, and regular checking of water quality through Field Testing Kits (FTK).

WATSAN Committee and village council members of Jal Jeevan Mission pre-Implementing villages (yet to start JJM), implementing villages (ongoing) and post-implementing villages (completed villages) from Shamator block participated in the workshop according to a DIPR report.
