Awareness on TB control at Old Ralan

Wokha, November 27 (MExN): The Thera Welfare Society conducted a Tuberculosis (TB) control programme among the community leaders at Old Ralan under Wokha district on November 26.

Dr Akum Jamir, District Officer Wokha launched the TB control project activities programme at Old Ralan to eliminate TB related problems.

He encouraged all the community leaders to be aware and avail the free diagnosis and treatment available at the designated microscopic centre. Dr Akum also emphasized the National TB elimination programme (NTEP) which aims to eradicate TB in the rural areas. He highlighted TB control programme in the district through trusted NGOs with the help of NTEP partnership with Health and Family welfare Department under Government of Nagaland.

Dr Akum also appealed to the people of Ralan area and the community leaders, women groups, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers etc, to help in creating awareness among the masses to avail free diagnosis and treatment through TB programme under NTEP.

Stating that the main objective would be the challenge to reach the unreached area in the district, Dr Akum also appealed the members and all the community leaders to give their full support and cooperation while carrying out the task and activities in the area.

R. Therali Tungoe the President of Thera Welfare society expressed gratitude towards the community leaders, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers of Ralan area for cooperation during the launch of the TB awareness programme.

She urged all the participants to join hands in preventing TB disease and to work together to remove stigma and discrimination from the mindset of the people in the area.

She also appreciated the state TB officers and district officers for supporting the implementation of the programme.

The Thera Welfare Society organizes awareness campaigns and different activities on TB related programmes with targeted groups like PRI, Youths, SHG, farmer groups, students, women, church leaders etc. The Thera Welfare Society President requested the general public of Ralan area to cooperate with the NGO teams so as to carry out the projects successfully in the future as well.

Old Ralan council chairman John Patton thanked the NGOs team and NTEP staff for organizing the TB elimination programme in Ralan area. The programme concluded with a prayer by Renbomo, Pastor Old Ralan.
