Awareness on teen pregnancy held at Wokha

Wokha, June 22 (MExN): The District Administration in collaboration with key stakeholders and Line Departments under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organized one day seminar cum awareness on teen pregnancy on June 22 at DC conference hall, Wokha, with Dr. Noune Terhase (Gynecologist) as the resource person.

A DIPR report informed that Adolescent Girls Club and girl students from different schools attend the programme. Addressing the participants Dr. Noune said why we are focusing more on teenage pregnancy because it is becoming a burden not only to the family but society as well, and added that to prevent such cases awareness and sensitization is required to be spread among adolescents girls as it has many adverse impact on the life of a women. 

Pointing some of the risk factors due to early pregnancy Dr. Noune stated that cervical cancer, anemia and sexually transmitted diseases are likely to be suffered by teenagers during pregnancy and urged the participants to be aware. Further added it is difficult to raise a child when you are still a child and encourage them to have the sense of responsibility for every action they take or make.

Dr. Wonchano E. Enny, Women Welfare Officer (MSK) Wokha delivered the welcome address while the programme was chaired by District C-coordinator, MSK, Wokha Chichanthung L Ezung. Later sanitary packs were also distributed to the participants.
