Mokokchung, October 23 (MExN): A one day awareness programme on food safety was organised by the food safety wing of Chief Medical Office Mokokchung with food traders on October 22 at the Mokokchung Municipal council conference hall.
Dr Kibangkumba Deputy Chief medical officer spoke on the topic General hygine and Sanitary practice. He said it is the responsibility of the food business operators to provide all food handlers with food safety and hygiene requirements. A food business operator must ensure that all food handlers are well aware of the roles and responsibility in protecting food from any kind of contamination.
Merenlemba Ao Food Safety officer gave power point presentation on food adulteration and its effects on health. He said food adulteration leads to toxicity in the body and could end in body paralysis and eventually to death.
Tsukti Longkumer, President Mokokchung chamber of commerce and industry also encouraged the traders to give their best in providing good quality product.
The programme was chaired by Panjung Longkumer Superintendent MMC Mokokchung and vote of thanks was delivered by Mofutula District supervisor DAPCU.
