Longleng, August 7 (MExN): As part of the nationwide campaign for Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao (SABB) initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban 2.0, the office of the Longleng Town Council organised awareness programme on cleanliness and sanitation practices at Government Middle School, Leinak, Longleng town on August 7.
Management of Information System Assistant (MISA) Longleng Town Council Isaac P, MIS, imparted information to the students and teaching faculty of Government Middle School, Leinak, Longleng Town on tackling cleanliness and disease-related challenges. Detailed explanations were given on dealing with stagnant water issues which can lead to diseases such as dengue, malaria and other related diseases, a DIPR report stated.
The session also covered essential practices such as adopting cleaner practices like ensuring regular cleaning of drains, maintaining Clean Toilets and ensuring safe drinking water and commitment to enhancing sanitation and health standards for a safer and cleaner environment for all residents during the monsoon season.
He also highlighted the collective effort to promote cleanliness and health. He also requested the School Management to adopt Garbage Venerable Point and beautify the same. Further he encouraged the students to adopt 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) with innovation in Waste to Wealth products.
It may be mentioned that the Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao initiative seeks to enhance the preparedness of Urban Local Bodies ensuring well equipped to handle the challenges posed by heavy rainfall and heightened health risks during the monsoon season.
Aligning with the concern departments and inter-sectoral convergence to deal with multi-faced challenges associated with cleanliness and diseases during the season.
Earlier, the introductory note was given by Head-Master Government Middle School Leinak Shumei Anthony, and saw the presence of the DPA, NEP (Lighthouse-Nectar) Peter Metchao, teachers and students.
