Participants during the awareness programme on Person with Disabilities held at Senden Salang, Kobulong, Mokokchung on June 15 last.

Mokokchung, June 22 (MExN): Mokokchung District Disabled Forum (MDDF) organised an awareness programme on Person with Disabilities (PwDs), the event was supported by Office of the State Commissioner for Person with Disabilities, Nagaland, stated a press release issued by Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF).
Seyievilie Pfukri, EAC Kobulong and Imliyanger, CDPO Kobulong delivered short speeches where they encouraged the stakeholders and the members present to be more sincere on the issues related to Person with Disabilities (PwDs). They also urged to recognise PwDs by knowing about their needs and challenges to protect and promote the welfare of Persons with Disabilities and their rights.
The resource persons, Kezhaleto Zecho, Senior Executive NSDF and Ngaugongbe, Joint Secretary NSDF shared on Rights of Person with Disabilities Act 2016, in which they stressed on health and educational entitlements and rights of PwDs.
MDDF President, Imkongnungchet Kichu shared on the status of PwDs and functions of Disable People’s Organization (DPOs) and encouraged the village council, churches and the people in the community to extend supports and help towards the welfare of PwDs.
The programme was conducted at Senden Salang, Kobulong, Mokokchung on June 15 last. The sessions of the programme were chaired by Sungjemrenba, Associate Pastor Youth, Mopungchuket Baptist Church and O Alang, Pastor Kobulong Baptist Church invokes God’s blessings. Arenlila Jamir, Project Associate, Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Caritas India delivered the welcome note.
Church leaders, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, village council members, school teachers, PwDs and their parents attended the event. A total of 98 people participated in the programme, out of which 18 PwDs were present.
