Tuensang, March 6 (MExN): An awareness programme on RTI Act, 2005 was held on March 6 at Town Hall, Tuensang with resource persons Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Chanbemo Lotha, State Information Commissioner (SIC) G H Ramlia and Secretary Nagaland Information Commission (NIC) Worhonthung Ezung.
CIC Chanbemo briefed on the Right to Information Act 2005, which was followed by power point presentation by Secretary NIC W Ezung, stated a DIPR report. W Ezung explained on how RTI enables the citizen to participate, to seek and question the Government. If RTI is applied in a proper manner it would lead to transparency and accountability, he added. Further briefing was done on the process of filing an RTI. RTI may not solve all problems but it is the first step for solution, W Ezung noted.
Interactions were held with the resource persons. DC Tuensang Mohammad Ali IAS also spoke on the occasion. Welcome address was delivered by ADC Chaitanya Prasad IAS while vote of thanks was proposed by SDO (Civil) Tuensang. Camp court was also conducted by the three resource persons.
