Tuophema, February 14 (MExN): An awareness programme on sustainable forest management was organized by Kohima Forest Division in collaboration with the local functionaries of eight villages under Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), JICA at Tuophema on February 13.
During the program DFO Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen, IFS highlighted on the importance of the role of local communities on the successful implementation of NFMP project. She said that a landscape approach to the project is important for the sustainability of various components and also for the benefit of the community with regard to livelihood security.
Discussions were held on household survey, Focus group discussion, Microplan, JFMC formation and accounting procedure. Village councils of Tuophema and Zhadima spoke on behalf of the local functionaries and assured full cooperation to the department.
Ranger Chiephobozou, Sanchu spoke on the issues relating to microplan preparation and household survey, SarathoKatiry EAC Botsa, also spoke about the relationship between conservation and livelihood and exhort the gathering to cooperate with the department. The program was attended by Village councils, JFMCs, Youth group, Women Society, SHGs and church workers of all the 8 (eight) villages under NFMP project of Chiephobozou Range.
