Awareness programme on Zoonotic Diseases held at Sainik School Punglwa

Punglwa, July 7 (MExN): In commemoration of World Zoonotic Day, the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, led by Dr. S. Mukherjee, conducted an informative lecture at Sainik School Punglwa as part of an NCC awareness programme. The event aimed to educate cadets about zoonotic diseases and their prevention.

Dr. S. Mukherjee, Head of the Department, opened the session with an introductory note, providing a historical perspective of World Zoonotic Day and emphasizing its global significance. "Awareness and education are critical in combating the spread of zoonotic diseases, which are infections that can be transmitted from animals to humans," Dr. Mukherjee explained.

Dr. Raghubir Singh, Assistant Professor, presented a overview of various zoonotic diseases. He discussed the nature of these infections, their modes of transmission, and the potential risks they pose to both humans and animals.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Lt. Col. Chaudhary, Vice Principal of Sainik School Punglwa. He acknowledged the efforts of the team, saying, "The initiative has fostered a better understanding of zoonotic diseases and their prevention among the cadets."
