Awareness on village and ward adoption held

Kohima, April 12 (DIPR): The District Core Convener and members of village and ward adoption committees under Kohima DPDB held an awareness meeting with the village and ward council chairmen and secretaries on April 11 at DPDB Hall, Kohima.

Highlighting the concept of village and ward adoption, Member and ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho stated that the committee was formed with the objective of lifting the living standard of the rural villages.

Among others, he said, the main goals were to identify the needs of the villagers be in economy, education, social and health sanitation; to assist them within their reach and capacity during the year; and to develop unity and co-operation amongst the visiting members to bring about changes in the district.

Luho also informed that the DPDB committees have selected 5 villages and 1 ward for adoption-Kiruphema Bawe village, Chede Basa village, Zhadima village, Mima village, Sakhaba village and D. Block ward- one each from 6 Assembly Constituencies under the district for the year 2017 to 2018. Clarifying that it is a voluntary service and not a government programme, he urged the villagers leaders to co-operate with the committees to bring about changes in a small way for the benefit of the villagers.

Convener and ADC Hq, Lithrongla Tongpi also shared her views and interacted with the attendees for further implementation of the programme. She also requested them to fill up the village and ward profile and submit within the stipulated time.
