Nagaland minister for Horticulture and Women Resources Development Salhoutuonuo Kruse addresses the gathering during the sale-cum-live exhibition held at Khuochiezie Ground on March 10.
Kohima, March 10 (MExN): Commemorating International Women’s Day, the Angami Women Organisation (AWO) organised a sale-cum-live exhibition to promote traditional and cultural practices under the theme “Utsiepfumia Zho Phise: Khakeshü Kemevi” – “Cultural footprints: Give to gain” at Khuochiezie Ground on Tuesday.
Gracing the occasion, Nagaland minister for Horticulture and Women Resources Development Salhoutuonuo Kruse encouraged women to preserve and continue practising the traditional and cultural values passed down by their forefathers. She also commended the organisation for its concern for future generations and for organising such initiatives to educate and inspire the youth about indigenous traditions and cultural heritage.
During the event, women from the four Angami regions participated by showcasing traditional Angami attire, highlighting its significance and usage, along with live cultural demonstrations.
In the competition categories, the Western Angami Women Organisation won the Best Stall award. The Southern Angami Women Organisation secured first place in Ukrü Upfutsanuo Licha (Traditional Cooking), while the Northern Angami Women Organisation won the Tsiedo Licha (Modern Cooking) category. The Western Angami Women Organisation also won in the Seikra and Nhasidzü (Juice) category.
On the occasion, the Department of Women Resources Development also conferred the ‘Myki Award–2026’ on seven individuals—Asang Chang, Moala Imsong, Piholi Swunetho, Nokhovinu Tetso, Y Mhalo Lotha, Vikuonuo Sachu and Zakietsono Jamir—and three groups, namely Vize SHG, Kazon Logwa and the Peren Town Women Welfare Organisation, in recognition of their outstanding contributions in different fields.
