MOKOKCHUNG, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): The All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) has expressed concern at the delay in execution of road repair works from the town center police point leading to Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung.
A press release from the AWUMT endorsed the representation made by the four ward youth associations viz Artang, Penli, Lijabalijen and Majakong for immediate repair of the road. “It is learnt that the government has already sanctioned for the maintenance of that particular road as requested by the four ward youth associations, and stated that the work will start during dry season. The monsoon is over, but we see no development, and we wonder why the government or department is delaying the repair work,” it questioned.
The AWUMT said that the hospital road is the main road in the town and the most significant road in the district when it comes to health care sectors. “But it is in the worst condition among the town’s major roads due to its dilapidated state, making it difficult for daily commuters and patients seeking medical facilities as well as aggravating their health conditions while being transported,” it added.
The union urged the concerned department/government to immediately release the sanctioned amount and start repairing the road. “The AWUMT and the public will not remain silent but will take appropriate action in due course of time, if the government fails to fulfill the basic and immediate needs,” it cautioned.
