Jalukie, September 30 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang inaugurated the Axis Bank branch at Jalukie Town, Peren district, on September 30.
Speaking at the inauguration, Zeliang highlighted the importance of institutional credit for farmers, saying it could help them procure seeds, equipment and livestock. He also said access to formal credit could support young entrepreneurs, small traders and existing businesses seeking to expand.
To this end, he urged Axis Bank to study the economic potential of Jalukie and Peren district and develop financial products and services suited to local needs.
He also called on the bank to extend its services beyond Jalukie town to surrounding villages and communities and support farmers in strengthening their agricultural activities.
He said the new branch represented the beginning of a new institutional relationship between the bank and the people of Jalukie and expressed hope that it would contribute to greater financial inclusion and economic development in the region.
Speaking on behalf of Axis Bank, Dimapur Cluster Cluster Head Poujaulung said the bank operates as a universal banking institution, offering financial services through retail, corporate and digital channels.
He said the bank remained focused on understanding customer needs and improving their banking experience, informed a State DIPR report.
