DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has expressed extreme constrain to learn about the killing of a State government employee Angabe Zeliang by unknown miscreants at Agri-Forest Colony, Kohima on Thursday night.
The AYO in a press note issued by its President Khrielievi Chüsi stated that it was anguished that despite the AYO’s standing resolution and continuous appeals from the youth bodies of different colonies in Kohima, the armed cadres of Naga underground factions have not been heeding to the cries of the general public but continue to move around creating fear psychosis with their guns and killing each other as well as the general public.
Terming it as very unfortunate that Late Angabe Zeliang was shot dead outside his house last night, the AYO was even more disheartened to learn that his killing has been termed as a case of ‘mistaken identity’. The AYO strongly opined that in case this is also one of the activities of the underground groups, the regional authority should make its stand clear behind the killing or otherwise if it is the handiwork of unknown miscreants, the district administration should come forward to immediately nab the culprit and take action as per the law.
The judiciary should not take advantage of releasing such culprits once forwarded to the court, the AYO stated.
The AYO called upon the concerned legislators of the State Capital to make concerted efforts in creating a peaceful atmosphere because the stability of the government depends upon the law and order situation. “They should not just remain mute spectators and continue to depend on the efforts of the District Administration and Police forces for maintenance of law and order situation”.
Meanwhile, the AYO while conveying Christmas and New Year greetings to the denizens of the State Capital hoped that this festive season would foster real peace and prosperity for the people of the State Capital and Nagas in general. The general public has also been informed that in view of the festive season, the office of AYO will remain closed from 22nd December, 2012 till 10th January 2013.
