AYO notifies on Oct 5th environmental campaign

Kohima, September 30 (MExN): In view of the scheduled environmental campaign of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) on October 5 beginning from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm in Kohima where in the Organisation have impressed upon the citizens of Kohima to cease their vehicle engines, keep their vehicles off the road for the day, cease and down all commercial power driven works and activities viz mills, crushers, print, fabrication, workshops, cafes etc, and all other establishments and agents engaging mechanized tools and other high power voltage tools, urging all to take a walk to work, do work with human driven energy, feel a day with nature- spend a day without dependence on fossil fuel energy related life, to take a walk for a healthy and better life, share a moment to enable our environment to recoup its vitality for human sustenance.  

Pertaining to the observance of the day the listed people and institutions are being exempted within the purview of the call:  District Administrations, Police, Para military forces on duty; First responders of the District; People on emergencies or important possessing sufficient proofs; People of wedding programme and festivals; Students and faculties school or college exams schedules; and Government officials from Director, AHODs and above and Department buses.  

People, institutions and establishments engaging other sources of private conveyance for scheduled works i.e., non-identifiable transportations are requested to contact the office of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) at APO Building Complex (Top floor), Midland Main Town Kohima between 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on October 3 and 4.  

AYO President Medo Yhokha in a press release added that the Organisation has also impressed upon the legislators to attend their respective offices without any escorts.  

KDTODU extends solidarity

Meanwhile, the Kohima District Truck Owners and Drivers’ Union (KDTODU) has extended its fullest support to the Angami Youth Organization’s call to ‘A moment of solidarity to enable our environment’ on October 5. Fully appreciating the AYO’s efforts to combat climate changes and to enable sustainability for the future and the present, the KDTODU has directed all its members to cease plying in Kohima on October 5 to reduce its carbon emissions. KDTODU President, Khriesalie Üsou in a press release, therefore, requests all its members to adhere and cooperate with the AYO.
