Azheto refutes allegations

Dimapur | October 14 : Adviser, Sericulture and co-operation, Azheto Zhimomi has clarified that he was not involved with the GPRN/NSCN and does not know anything about the whereabouts of NSCN Khaplang cadre Hemail Sema. NSCN Khaplang had accused Azheto of conniving with the GPRN/NSCN and whisking away its cadre Hemail who went to meet the MLA at his residence to finalize pending annual revenue accounts of his timber firm.
The date of meeting as mentioned by NSCN (K) was October 9 but Azheto corrected it to October 6. Azheto said Hemail came to his residence at around 11 am and they talked for about 15 minutes during which the cadre expressed the view of the NSCN (K) chaplee ministry and left his house. “I do not know anything what happened to him ... after he left my house I am not responsible,” Azheto said.
At around 8:30 pm the same day, the MLA said, he got a call from NSCN (K) cadres informing that Hemail has been apprehended by GPRN/NSCN from his house (Azheto). “I told them that I do not know anything.” Referring to allegations against him of links with GPRN/NSCN, Azheto said, “This allegation is baseless and I am not involved at all. I have not done anything wrong.”
He said any person was free to meet him but added that if Naga brothers start accusing like this then “we will stop talking and will not let them come to our house.” He appealed the NSCN (K) not to “damage our image.”
Meanwhile, reacting to a news report regarding Thursday’s accident near Murise village which claimed the life of two persons, Azheto clarified that he did not give any assurance regarding compensating the family members of the victims, as reported in some of the local dailies. Azheto said he had stated that he would talk to the 13th NAP (IR) Commandant and would see what could be done to help the victims’ families.
The MLA also said that while the injured were being taken to District Hospital at 9 am sharp, not a single emergency Doctor was available till 11:30am. Quoting public accounts, Azheto said the injured could have had chances of survival if Doctors were available at the time of admitting the injured persons.

GPRN/NSCN clarifies on arrest of Khaplang member at Thahekhu

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 14 (MExN):
The GPRN/NSCN has clarified on the arrest of a Khaplang member at Thahekhu. A press note from the MIP clarified that on 6th October morning, Naga Army, Dimapur Town Command, GPRN/NSCN received information that Khaplang group were demanding tax at Signal Angami colony and therefore a team was deputed to arrest the anti-social elements. On seeing the Naga Army personnel, one suspect tried to escape but was given a hot chase at which he loaded his .32 pistol and confronted the town command members, informed the press note. He was however overpowered and taken into custody and upon interrogation he disclosed that his name was Akheto Chishi, son of Yeheshe Chishi hailing from Lokobomi Village in Sumi Region.
According to the press note Akheto admitted that he was collecting tax for K group and also revealed that his accomplice one Bokato was at MLA Azheto’s residence at Thahekhu demanding Tax. The town command personnel reached the area and surrounded the building cutting off all escape route. Realising that the house was surrounded, Bokato alias Hemail Sumi came out and was promptly taken into custody, informed the MIP note.
A black polethene bag with cash was seized from accused, the GPRN/NSCN stated while adding that it will not hesitate to act when the situation demands. The MIP note also made it very clear that the arrest of Hemail Sumi was carried out according to the information provided by his arrested partner-in-crime Akheto Chishi and that “it would be foolish to accuse MLA Azheto Zhimomi as GPRN/NSCN informer”.
“Be it a residence of a Minister or an MLA, on specific report, GPRN/NSCN has moral obligation to act against criminals in the interest of the society. Indian politicians have their own agenda and GPRN/NSCN follows revolutionary principles inherited from visionary forefathers and so the arrest of Hemail Sumi has nothing to do with MLA Azheto. Hemail Sumi had been on the GPRN/NSCN radar for months on account of his involvement in anti-social activities earlier”, the MIP note stated.
It was also revealed that on interrogation, Bokato alias Hemail Sumi, a probation for K group without any position either in civil or military, confessed that he was acting on the orders of Kughalu Mulatonu, who had promised him plump post in the form of Dimapur incharge of K group’s finance department. According to the MIP note, Hemail Sumi also revealed that Mulatonu had told him that by November or December 2011, he would become General Secretary of K group and Hemail Sumi would be rewarded. He was therefore was asked to work wholeheartedly for K group.
GPRN/NSCN also clarified that owing to technical problems, GPRN/NSCN had not issued the exact amount of GPRN/NSCN money collected by former Chaplee Kilonser Kughalu Mulatonu through his agents, from business houses as donations and advanced tax for 2012, on the eve of his departure and therefore the recent statement issued by him which denied embezzlement of Rs. 4.86 crores by him, is actually very close to the amount the GPRN/NSCN investigation team has reported to the Collective Leadership. GPRN/NSCN appreciated him for admitting the exact amount that he departed with.
