Kohima, March 17 (MExN): Minister of agriculture Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today assured to take care of any lapse arising out of seeds distribution connected with the ‘Year of Farmer 2006.’
The minister replied this to MLA C. Apok Jamir following the complaint received from the public that the seedlings were not distributed in time as well as some problem occurred in packaging, thereby the very purpose is defeated.
As demanded by Opposition leader I. Imkong, the minister also assured to submit the list of the quantity of seeds distributed for each districts in the state.
Earlier, replying to MLAs Takamasa Ao, S. Supongmeren and Apok Jamir in starred question, the minister informed the House that a detailed calendar of activities has been drawn up for the entire year by Agriculture and allied sector departments during the year of farmers.
The rural development department has announced that the various VDBs funds for the current year have been directed to be utilized for agri and allied activities, the minister told the House.
During the year, various agricultural conferences are lined up by the agriculture and allied departments and schemes of the departments of the state and also to educate the farmers on latest agricultural technologies.
“The policy of the state government is to induce commercial scale productivity which will be given special trust during the year through training of farmers, clustering of villages and agri climatic zones for production,” the minister said.
