Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): The department of Rural Development is under the Lotha Students’ Union’s scanner for alleged backdoor appointments. The LSU has demanded immediate clarification from the department in concern over ‘random backdoor appointments’ being carried out, to various posts under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). LSU’s general secretary Ejanthung Ngullie expressed anguish that the department had carried out appointments “at their selfish interest” rather than appointing genuine and eligible candidates. The state government is cautioned to resolve the issue at the earliest or face an LSU action against the said department. No details of the alleged backdoor appointments was given in the press note.
