MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 5 (MExN): A major step in promoting sports and community development was marked with the inauguration of a Double Court Badminton Indoor Stadium at Tuli sub-division in Mokokchung district on Saturday.
The stadium was officially inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, who attended the occasion as the special guest.
Constructed by the Tuli Sub-Division Badminton Association (TSDBA), the project was initiated and mobilised under the leadership of Nukshimatong, NCS, SDO (Civil) and Border Magistrate, Tuli, with financial and material contributions from well-wishers across Nagaland. The initial capital was raised through community-led fundraising efforts by TSDBA members.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner commended the community for taking the initiative to develop local sports infrastructure. He remarked that it is the collective will of the people, more than resources, that drives societal progress.
According to the TSDBA, the project was completed at an approximate cost of Rs 34 lakh, fully funded through public contributions. The new facility is expected to function as a centre for badminton training, community recreation, and inter-district tournaments in the future.
