Badminton Interclub Championships to be held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, September 30 (MexN): The Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) in a press conference stated that the association will be organizing the 4th edition of the Mokokchung Interclub Badminton Championship from 10– 12 October.

One of the most important tournament organized by the MDBA, Er. Yanger, Technical Committee convenor in a press conference convened at Badminton stadium Mokokchung, said that the tournament is the most prestigious tournament not only in Mokokchung but also in the state and said that the tournament is in line with the vision statement of MDBA to produce at least one Olympian by 2040. 

“In lieu of the vision statement of the MDBA, we have organized a series of events including coaching activities and different tournaments especially to train youngsters to achieve the vision focusing even at the grass root level.The event is the culmination of all events the MDBA organizes”, he added.

 Er.Philip, Convenor, Organising committee said that in the fourth edition eleven clubs will be participating in the championships. The championships will be played on a best of seven matches format and the categories will be: Under 13 Boys Singles, Under 15 Girls Singles, Under 15 boys doubles, Men's singles, Mixed Doubles open category, 35+ Men’s Doubles and Veterans 95+ , a special category introduced this year in which the age of two players together should sum up to 95.

He also informed that each club can hire a maximum of three players and the remaining players should be the club’s own members. The tournament is set to begin on October 10 and will be played till October 12.
