Bailey bridge to be ‘completed in 2-3 days’

PWD Minister, Tongpang Ozukum on his return to Dimapur from Peren on May 3, visited the ongoing construction of a bailey bridge at 4th Mile across the Chathe River and was apprised about the work progress by EE (R&B) Dimapur, Er. Talitemsu Jamir. Er. Tali said that the department was receiving all out support from public of nearby villages and expressed gratitude to them.  

The Bridge collapsed on July 11, 2017 and construction of a new one began on February 3, 2018. The officials said that the Bailey bridge construction would be “completed within 2-3 days if weather does not disturb the ongoing works.”  

At the site, the Minister interacted with youths and students from United Colony, Hope Academy and Nikhekhu Village who were helping in the ongoing works. He thanked them for helping the department physically and morally and also expressed his gratitude to the people from surrounding areas for extending cooperation to the department throughout the time of construction of the bridge.  

Although, the temporary hume pipe culvert was washed away recently, there is another similar alternate road downstream currently being used by commuters.  

The Minister will be leaving for Mon on Friday to inspect the ongoing works there.
