
Dimapur, November 7 (MExN): The National Executive Committee meeting of the Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh (BAJSS), New Delhi was held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on November 5.
The executive meeting disapproved on the present union government’s plan of “trying to pull down the oldest dedicated National/Regional/Local Voluntary Agencies” by introducing a policy to transfer the social welfare grassroots schemes from central sector to state governments. As such, all schemes/programmes were halted ear marked for VOs/NGOs, a press release from BAJSS NEM and Organiser, Wetsah Kolhi stated.
The meeting resolved to stand united and safe guard the identity of the national voluntary organization established by Thakkar Bappa in 1948. A total of 25 people attended the meeting which included 15 members from seven states along with special invitees.
Earlier during the meeting, a tributary session was held in memory of its late president, Banwari Lal Gaur who passed away on October 17. Members paid floral tribute and shared their experiences with the former president.
The house participated on the various agendas prepared. National Executive member Kolhi presented the issues of the Northeastern tribals and sought intervention of the BAJSS.
The meeting was jointly presided over by its vice-presidents Nahar Singh Wakhla and Triveni Prasad Dwivedi. BAJSS mission to hold such events in the Northeastern states was made possible this time by the efforts of its national executive members Kolhi and Longly Phom, Dimapur.
