Bamboo Rural Haat inaugurated at Piphema

MEDZIPHEMA, JULY 12 (MExN): Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated the Bamboo Rural Haat at Piphema 'A' under Medziphema sub-division in Chümoukedima district on July 12, a DIPR report stated.         

In his address, Zaleo Rio congratulated the team from Bamboo Mission and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) for successfully setting up the Bamboo Rural Haat for the welfare of people. He also appreciated the co-operation received from the village council.  The Advisor also emphasized on the importance of Piphema as National Highway-29 passes right through it and is an attraction for tourists visiting Nagaland.  

He requested the villagers to maintain cleanliness and take care of the infrastructure.  He also encouraged the farmers to continue to grow and sell the local/organic vegetables, as it will not only help increase income but also provide employment opportunities to the people. 

Additional Secretary & State Mission Director, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, S. Tainu gave a brief note on the Bamboo Rural Haat. Chairing the inaugural programme, Dr Tolto Metha, team member, NBDA, extended his appreciation to the village council for providing strategic land for constructing the Haat and for their cooperation. He also highlighted about the purpose of treating bamboo and the activities of Rural Haat.

The Bamboo Rural Haat was funded by the Nagaland Bamboo Mission and constructed by Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.
