Mokokchung, October 24 (MExN): The 14-day 2nd intensive free boxing coaching camp, organised by the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sport (DYRS) and the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA), concluded on October 24.
The participants and coaches were handed certificates during valedictory programme held at P Shilu Ao Park, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
According to BAM, a total of 31 upcoming boxers of different age groups, both boys and girls, registered for the camp.
The camp was coached by DYRS' L Chophy and assisted by two state boxers from Khelo Indian Sports Centre for Excellence (Boxing), namely Uzhozu Neinu and Manchen.
Speaking on the occasion, Coach Chophy expressed satisfaction with the large turnout and commended the participants for quickly learning the various techniques of boxing.
He also expressed optimism that the young participants, with continued diligence over the next five years, would excel not only in the state and the Northeast but also at the national and international levels.
BAM Executive member Alemyanger Jamir, while addressing the gathering, encouraged the students to be disciplined and maintain their focus, enabling them to excel not only in sports but also in their lives.
He also read out a brief message conveyed by the NABA President Meren Paul.
The programme was chaired by Tajungla Longkumer, a BAM Executive member, while the Associate Pastor (Youth Ministry) of Yimyu Baptist Church, Moa Jamir, invoked God's blessings.
