BAN members enlightened on GST

Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): Department of Taxes imparted awareness on Goods & Services Tax (GST) to Business Association of Nagas (BAN) members on May 9 in Dimapur.  

A press release from Media Cell, BAN pointed out that the business community of Dimapur and Nagaland state in general has been quite apprehensive about the newly introduced GST, which is an upcoming system of comprehensive indirect tax on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods and services throughout India.  

“And over the years the business community has been ignorant about all the small details about taxation system because of lack of educative seminar.” But recently, it said, the Department of Taxes has taken the task to educate and spread the working system of GST to all the business communities of Nagaland.  

During the training and interaction session with BAN members, the association’s chairman appreciated the department for taking proactive part in enforcing the GST in the most effective manner in order to establish a level playing ground for all the business houses in Nagaland, according to the release. He also expressed BAN's wish for better Nagaland in terms of infrastructural development in return of more generation of revenue like any other states, it added.  

The BAN members interacted with the officials of Taxes department after the presentation.  

“This kind of healthy meet will surely bridge the gap and apprehensions between the department and the business community and the BAN is greatly hopeful for the Naga entrepreneurs will do much better with this kind of support even in the near future,” BAN Media Cell stated.
