Dimapur, September 13 (MExN): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) has expressed its resentment on non-implementation of GST norm, where tax for both central and state are paid but transporters are subjected to pay beyond GST. In this regard, BAN through its Media Cell has appealed to the state government to do away collection of money at all check gates and highways and ensure safe passage to transporters entering/crossing their own state.
Taking note that COVID-19 pandemic have crippled all business worldwide, BAN stated that Naga entrepreneurs are also no exception. “Business has just started limping back to normalcy with great difficulty and the course of action if taken by the transporters, their memorandum not being addressed will greatly affect most Naga business firms in Kohima and Dimapur.”
BAN has also taken cognizance of Dimapur DC order dated August 31/and the subsequent letter/ memorandum by transporter of Lahorijan and Khatkhati and course of action thereof. It stated that firstly, transport trucks not entering our two main commercial hubs will bring business into a stand still. Secondly, according to BAN, complying to the order of not carrying excess load to meet the multiple collection of money at various points, the business fraternity will be adversely affected with high cost of transportation, which will ultimately be borne by the public/consumers.
