DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) has sought exemption of pharmaceutical shops, restaurants, eateries, bakeries from the ban imposed by the NSCN (IM) on Sundays.
A press statement issued by BAN stated that travelers, both locals and visitors, entering in and out of Dimapur have been reportedly facing great difficulty owing to the Sunday closure. While the closure imposed on all shops on Sunday could have been a spiritual approach with Nagaland being a Christian state, the Association however said exemption of pharmaceutical shops, restaurants, eateries, bakeries must be humanely considered.
The Association pointed out that it would be “impossible and make no sense to dictate people not to journey on Sunday nor can we stop trains and flights entering on Sundays nor can we impose fasting on travelers crossing Dimapur on Sunday.”
Therefore, the Association on behalf of all would be affected people has sincerely requested the NSCN (IM) to review this ban so that we are “not reprimanded for our faith and action on religious grounds.”
