KIPHIRE, JULY 17 (MExN): YouthNet, in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), inaugurated a Banana Fibre Extraction Unit along with facilities for producing value-added products in Moya village under Kiphire district on July 17.
The initiative is part of the Skill Training Programme on Capacity Building Intervention for Women Artisans under the Kiphire Banana Fibre Cluster, supported by SIDBI’s Project CARE, YouthNet said in a release.
The project aims to empower 150 youth and women artisans of Moya, located in the Aspirational Pungro Block, by equipping them with skills and infrastructure to engage in eco-friendly, value-added production, it said.
As part of the programme, participants are receiving training in financial management, self-help group and cluster development, product compliance and certifications, value chain creation, branding, packaging, pricing, among other areas essential for building sustainable, market-ready enterprises, it added.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by S Kiusumew Yimkhiung, MLA and Advisor for Home Guard and Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Relief and Rehabilitation.
Among others, Vikram Kumar, Assistant Manager and Branch-in-Charge, SIDBI Nagaland, along with his team, and Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, accompanied by representatives of the organisation were present at the inaugural.
