Baptist College hosts workshop on academic tools & resources

Participants and others during the workshop organised by Library Advisory Committee in collaboration with the IQAC of Baptist College, Kohima, on July 5.

Kohima, July 5 (MExN): A one-day workshop on “tools and online resources for academia” was organised by the Library Advisory Committee in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Baptist College, Kohima, on July 5.

The programme was chaired by Dr Sentinaro, Coordinator, IQAC, with Alovi Zhimomi, Consultant for Library Education and Technologies Services, as the resource, stated a press note.

The first technical session titled “Digital Repository DSpace”, aimed to educate the participants on the key features, benefits, and practical applications of DSpace in academia, highlighting its role in enhancing research visibility and collaboration.

Zhimoni introduced and highlighted the significance, accessibility and  functionality of the software DSpace and stated, “DSpace is a valuable tool for managing and promoting digital assets in academic institutions.”Along with the technical presentation she also gave live demonstration of the possibility on uses of various open online resources. 

The second session topic of discussion was “Research Tools and Online Learning Materials.” Ms. Zhimomi elaborated on various online platforms and tools that can significantly aid academic research and the creation of digital learning environments.

After every season, a brief Q&A time was given to allow participants to clarify their doubts and engage with the speaker.

The programme started with prayer by Dr Kewepfuzu Lohe, Principal, Baptist College, Kohima followed by welcome address from Dr KekucholPusa, Principal of Baptist College, Kohima, Sechü campus. Angel Meru, Convener, Library Advisory Committee, outlined the objectives of the workshop and introduced the resource person. The workshop concluded with closing remark by Seyiesilie Vüprü, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC.
