BCK literature fest 2019 pulls large students

Several students today thronged the 4th edition of Baptist College Kohima (BCK) Literature Fest 2019 here at Baptist College, Kohima campus and familiarized themselves with various forms of literary works and creativity.
Apart from Baptist College, students from Model Christian College, Oriental College, Don Bosco College, Japfü Christian College Kigwema, Sazolie College, Kros College, Kohima Science College Jotsoma and St. Joseph’s College Jakhama also joined the fest.
In an inaugural function held at Rivenburgs Memorial Hall, BCK principal Dr. Kekuchol Pusa maintained that literature plays a very crucial role in a civilized society. He however said that it is very unfortunate to know that many a times people tend to overlook the contributions made by the authors, poets, novelists, writers, scholars etc. “Many a times we fail to give proper attention and recognition which they deserved. That is the sad part,” he said. Pusa was optimistic that this kind of festival, seminar, workshop will be able to make people aware of the significance and value of literary works.
Dr. Tsenbeni in her introductory address said “Creativity is an ability to produce an idea which is facilitated by imagination and also expression.” She said literary works, musical composition, art works, painting are all result of creativity, adding that our life itself is a result of creativity. “Today we celebrate life and creativity in number of forms like books, poetry, crafts, songs, art work, food, and so on,” she said.
The fest was organised by Department of English, Baptist College, Kohima Campus in collaboration with Backstage Campaign. The event was marked by competition events (Meme, poetry writing & pencil sketching), creative workshops, meet the author, open mic, book fair, craft stalls, food stalls and photo booth.
During creative workshop, Loreni Tsanglao talked on TV journalism, Avikuo Tepa on painting, Lichan Humtsoe on entrepreneurship, Pezet Newmai on music, Sanen Kichu on videography, Vishü Rita Krocha on writing and Suchamayang Kichu on photography.
Sentilong Ozukum, author of “Campus Blues & Sincerely Yours” led a talk & interaction with students.
