Phek, May 17 (MExN): National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), Phek observed World Hypertension Day under the theme ‘Measure your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Longer’ at CHC Pfutsero on May 17.
The day is been observed with an aim to educate people about the importance of screening, early diagnosis and early treatment of hypertension and other non communicable diseases (NCD), Kutolu Nakro, District Media Officer NHM Phek stated in a press release.
Dr Khriezotuo Paphino, CMO Phek in his keynote address said, ‘we should be an ambassador to advocate the importance of preventing hypertension by creating awareness in our society.’
Dr Vepfuhu, MO CHC Pfutsero in his presentation highlighted the risk factors for hypertension and its preventive measures. Hypertension is often called the ‘Silent Killer’ because it usually has no symptoms but can lead to severe health complications if left untreated. Further, he spoke on the importance of lifestyle modification, dietary eating plan and measuring blood pressure regularly.
Dr Shasinle Tep, DPO (NCD) has informed the participants the availability of NCD clinic at District hospital Phek, CHC Meluri, Pfutsero and Chozuba and requested the participants to avail the facility in all the Health Units upto HWC-SC level.
Mini health camp was organised where screening for hypertension and diabetes were done. The programme was attended by various NGOs, Education department and staff of CHC Pfutsero.
Earlier, the invocation was said by Vechulou Kanuo with vote of thanks by Dr Ketoukhrie Mehta Dental Surgeon CHC Pfutsero.
