Be ambassadors against corruption and bribery: NPCC President tells students

Pfütsero, September 9 (MExN): NPCC President K. Therie has urged students to be ambassadors against corruption and bribery. Addressing the students of Pfütsero Government College, he affirmed that all rank and file of the NPCC will continue to fight against corruption and bribery, according to a press release received here.  

Therie further said that sense of belonging and participation of all stakeholders in making a vibrant State Assembly is the need of hour so every corner’s problem is discussed in the State Assembly and addressed through its directives. He also stated that sense of belonging of public funds is of utmost importance towards curbing corruption and ensuring that funds are optimally utilized for the intended purposes.  

Maintaining that bribery and corruption have become a vicious cycle in Nagaland and the youth being the most important stakeholder in the state have an important role in changing society and the Electoral College towards electing a “clean God-fearing Government,” Therie said that the future of the state and every individual are interdependent and therefore another wrong step will be a fall to be stamped upon by the 7.4 billion.  

He further urged the gathering to be ambassadors in changing the present perception people have of Nagaland, by exhibiting and living the true Christian spirit.  

Therie also exhorted the students to set goals and work towards achieving them. For this, he said, it is important that they venture out but with skill and competency. He asserted there is nothing to stop them if there is determination and hard work.  

“We deserve equal and ample opportunities. When you are done with education and come back home and you don’t find a job; when ‘free and fair’, justice and equality are found missing; when bias and backdoor appointment are the only way; you will realise the reality of the situation. You will regret but it may be too late,” he added.  

Meanwhile, he stated that given an opportunity, the Congress will create opportunities for employment and accelerate growth of the economy in a free and fair environment.  

Pointing out that Pfütsero area, surrounded by virgin forests, enjoys a super, nature gifted climate with vegetation and inhabited by hardworking people, the NPCC President said the region has immense potential to develop various types of tourism which in turn could stimulate the growth of other allied sectors in the service industry.  

Therie also touched on aspects of the NPCC Roadmap and said if provided an opportunity, the Congress will deliver the vision as declared therein and in the Election Manifesto for the upcoming 2018 General Election.
