MLA N. Thomas Lotha on Friday encouraged upon students to be ambassadors of their village and community to the Naga people and the country.
He was speaking at the felicitation programme for successful students of HSLC & HSSLC organized by Lakhuti Students’ Union at his residence in Dimapur as the chief host.
Thomas also urged the students to live upto the expectations of their parents and their community and contribute their part to the society.
“There will be so many testing times ahead of you but you always have to carry the prayers of your parents, elders and Church leaders,” he said.
The MLA advised the students to remain connected with their roots no matter wherever they are and whatever they become in life.
Talking about the rich flora and fauna bestowed upon Lakhuti village, Thomas said that the village community should be thankful to God for all the abundant blessings. He expressed delight in pointing that the literacy rate of Lakhuti village was 95% as against the state literacy rate of 80%. Thomas also said that Lakhuti village was the first in the state to embrace Roman Catholicism in 1951.
Earlier, the chief host gave away citations and cash money to the toppers and other meritorious students. During the programme, Chairman, Lakhuti Ekhung Dimapur also exhorted the students.
The programme was attended by students, parents, guardians and members of Lakhuti village.
