The 18th Nagaland Muslim Student’s felicitation programme for meritorious students of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination was organized by the Muslim community by the Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) at Convent Hall, Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on October 30.
Special guest, Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu, MLA & NPF leader & Co-Chairperson UDA Government, Nagaland motivated the meritorious students to be contributors and an asset towards their society. “When you are an asset towards your community, you are asset to the state of Nagaland and the nation,” he said.
Further, he advised them to utilise the knowledge and skills gained from education for bringing positive change to the society and not misuse it for anti-social activities. He also encouraged the students to excel further in their higher education and future careers.
Special invitee, AS Tafadar, Advocate, LLM London, meanwhile appreciated the MCD for the contributions made for the benefit of the state. He also congratulated the students and their parents for their hard-work and efforts to achieve satisfactory academic results. “Encouragement and motivation really matters, it plays a key role in the success and achievements of each individual,” he noted.
Ahidur Rahman, Working President, MCD bringing greetings from the Muslim community explained that the MCD was established in 2000. Throughout this period, the MCD has lived by their motto of ‘Unity integrity and communal harmony,’ he added.
He highlighted the basis of the felicitation programme was to encourage the few meritorious students from the Muslim community to excel in education. This had resulted in students achieving the top position in both HSLC and HSSLC examination twice, he said.
Short speeches were also given by Etsungmomo Kikon, President Naga Council, Y Kikon, President Dimapur District Citizen Forum, Albert Ezung, Administrator, Dimapur Municipal Council and Basu Damani, Vice President, BJP Nagaland.
