MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on Monday urged student leaders to become leaders of principle, integrity and ideology, rather than power-monger leaders.

Addressing the 34th general session of the Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF) at the Phek Village Community Hall on January 12, he said the legacy one leaves behind is more important than present status and position.

Held under the theme ‘Higher & Wiser for a Stronger Tomorrow,’ the session saw the legislator stress that decisions must be taken in the greater interest of the Nagas as a whole and not for selfish ends or solely for tribal interests.

“Therefore, we must create a legacy that will be loved, remembered and cherished forever,” Nienu said, adding that leadership should be guided by long-term impact rather than immediate gain.

Emphasising Christian values, he said one should not choose convenience over obedience, enthusiasm over reverence, or favouritism and nepotism over rights. “Our intentions should be clear on what is right and we must deliver justice to the people we serve,” he said.

The MLA further noted that while the status and position one holds may end at any time, the legacy left behind continues even after death.
Touching on the theme of the session, PCF President, Veshe Chizo said it called upon students and educated members of society to aspire not only for academic excellence but also for greater wisdom rooted in values, discipline, faith and social responsibility.

He said the theme also highlighted the need to pursue excellence in education, skills and leadership, while being wise meant walking with humility, integrity and fear of God. “Only when knowledge is guided by wisdom can we truly contribute to building a better tomorrow for our community and society at large,” Chizo added.

Stating that PCF continued to uphold its role as a responsible intellectual body, he said the forum remained committed to social, educational and spiritual development. He stressed that PCF must continue to nurture not only academically competent students but also spiritually grounded, socially responsible and community-oriented leaders, and called for unity, moral integrity and a spirit of service.

Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Vezuhu Keyho and Phek Village Council chairman Chivozo Soho also addressed the session.

The PCF activity report was presented by General Secretary, Vephiyi Soho, while statistical secretary Krove Hoshi presented the statistical report. At present, PCF has 2,231 registered members.

Acknowledgement and felicitation were led by PCF Joint Secretary, Nuvevo Venuh. Review of resolutions was conducted by Kho-o H Keyho, while Rev Vesito Venuh, pastor of Phek Village Baptist Church, pronounced prayer for the newly elected team of executives and advisors for the tenure 2026–2028.

The programme was chaired by PCF Joint Secretary Vepo Soho, and the vote of thanks was proposed by PCF Finance Secretary Nukuta Chizo.

Meanwhile, Veshe Chizo will continue as president of the PCF till 2028, with Thuputo Venuh serving as general secretary, among others.
